I'm a mum of 4 who needed a bike solution for my daughter. She can't balance independently and definitely couldn't navigate a busy road by herself. Whilst my other kids have endless sports they take part in, it was harder to find activities my daughter could happily join. These tandems genuinely changed that!

What struck me first when we tried a parent child tandem was how stable they are to cycle. My daughter had grown too big to continue on a bike seat on the back of my bike as it had begun to make the back wheel sway out dangerously behind me. She now cycles in front so she gets all the joy of seeing everything clearly and we can easily chat while we point out fun things as we cycle along!

We can now cycle anywhere together and go on so many adventures, whether into the city, on cycle paths, down country roads, on greenways or through the woods. These tandems have truly opened up an amazing new world for us as a family. We can pack a picnic and cycle long distances at a fast pace and all the while my daughter helps with the pedaling. There are so many features and adjustments that are possible on these bikes. She can help pedal, pedal in tandem or rest her legs at the simple flick of a lever from the me, whilst we are cycling along. I have full control of the steering, gears and brakes. I can also set the front handlebars so they are solid or I can adjust them so she can co-steer.

Cycling a companion tandem is fun beyond words! We can discuss the interesting things we see as we pedal along and we get to really take in our surroundings in a way that is lost in a car. My daughter has fallen in love so much with the tandem that she can't understand why we don't cycle 365 days a year, even in the snow! The craic we have together on the bike, the learning opportunities, the fresh air, exercise and the joy of going at a slower pace than the car are things that truly benefit us enormously.

Getting out on the bike is an incredibly mood-enhancing activity which always brings us closer together and gives us plenty to talk about. Instead of the destination being the point of our days out, the journey becomes as important, sometimes more. It especially helps when it's time to go home, that it's on our bike and not just 'back in the car'! The sheer joy and excitement at finding these tandems prompted me into action to import and sell them so that many more families could share in the new found freedom we feel.
